What is Klimalog?

"Effective climate policy requires fair solutions that mediate between poor and rich."
Imme Scholz, Acting Director of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE)

Research and dialogue for a
just and SDG-compatible implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement

Limiting anthropogenic climate change calls for a prompt and radical transformation of the socio-economic development pathways that humankind has followed thus far. It requires low-carbon approaches to development that will result in zero emissions globally by 2070. At the same time, it needs to account for the burning issues of equity and burden-sharing at national levels as well as in international climate and development policy.

In its second phase, this research project investigates policies towards a decarbonisation of the global economy and towards increasing the climate resilience of societies for a climate-smart and just transformation.

NDC explorer

The NDC Explorer

The (intended) Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are a corner stone for the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The NDC Explorer allows you to explore and compare all (I)NDCs in 60 subcategories related to mitigation, adaptation, finance and support, planning and process as well as broader debates like SDGs and fossil fuel subsidy reform.

NDC-SDG Connections

NDC-SDG Connections

NDC-SDG Connections is a joint initiative of the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), funded by the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). With NDC-SDG Connections we aim at illuminating synergies between the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement, and at identifying entry points for coherent policies that promote just, sustainable and climate-smart development.

TREND analytics

Reducing tariffs is a traditionally aim of trade agreements. But the content of modern agreements goes far beyond trade issues: the number and range of included environmental provisions is rising. In light of heated debates about the interlinkages between trade and environmental protection as well as broader debates like the 2030 Agenda, the online tool TREND analytics offers new knowledge and more transparency.
